Tunas Muda, as an IB World School, was proud to celebrate Independence Day 2018 today, enabling our Kindergarten, Primary and Secondary students and staff to share their love of Indonesia. Our day started in both schools with Upacara Bendera, led in Kedoya by members of staff and in Meruya by students from Year 10. The Kepala Sekolah at both schools read out a letter to students and staff from Diknas DKI Jakarta reminding us that we can all be heroes for our country. After Upacara, everyone changed into red and white clothes to play a variety of games, including makan kerupuk, oper kelereng, balap karung, and many more Year 5 and 6 from Kedoya marched around the complex, spreading the joy of the day and Secondary students battled each other in a basketball tournament! What fun we all had! In the words of one of the Primary students, “This was the best day ever!” This was one of the most important days in our year, when we are reminded of those who struggled for our country’s independence, the importance of valuing our independence and the great cultural heritage we need to protect. May God always bless our beloved country, guide its leaders and protect its people.
